I'M ENGAGED!!!

Last Saturday Ryan and I decided to go hiking since it was finally spring! We took a trail up behind the Bountiful Temple and it was beautiful! We even took a picnic lunch. I had thought maybe (and was secretly hoping) that he would propose on our hike. He didn't and so I told myself to keep being patient. At the end of the hike he asked what we were going to do the rest of the day, then suggested ice cream. Perfect. We went to Cold Stone (mmm, mmm good) and took it to the park. Then the clouds blew in and it was freezing!

Ryan knew one of my favorite spots to go to think or to meditate was up at the Bountiful Temple and he had talked about going up there. We had tried before, but the grounds had always been closed, so when he suggested we go back up there to the grounds I didn't think much of it. We walked around the grounds and headed towards my favorite corner, then he turned around abruptly. We walked around again and then he turned abruptly again. I was thinking he was acting kind of weird and he was all quiet.

We did eventually make it over to my corner. When we did there was a vase of flowers tipped over on the ground with the water all spilled out (it was really windy). My heart immediately began to flutter, but then Ryan said something about how it was strange people would just leave flowers there and then ignored them. I was disappointed- they were even orchids and lilies, my favorites! So, we looked out over the valley and talked, then sat on the bench and talked some more. Then he went and picked up the flowers and brought them to me. He told me they were actually for me (aren't they beautiful?!)and then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! And I said yes of course!
His sister and brother-in-law had brought the flowers up secretly and I wasn't supposed to see them or the flowers, hence the lollygagging and abrupt changes of direction.

So, June 6! Ahhhh! I still can hardly believe it, but I'm so happy!!! (My nose is crinkling in all the pictures-it only does that when it's my biggest smile!) I couldn't have asked for anyone better. You dream your whole life of who you'll marry and what you want him to be like. I just never thought I'd get everything I wanted. I've been so blessed.
And this is for your benefit everyone, since you all know how much I detest this pose- it's the best you're gonna get, so enjoy. :)
And, yes, I do have a ring and it's gorgeous and I love it and it sparkles like a billion sunbeams!

I think I'm the luckiest girl in the world. He's fabulous and I love him!

The Balloon Man

Ryan and I went to dinner with his family on Saturday Night at the Brick Oven in Provo (I can now appreciate why it's so popular). While the food and company was enjoyable, the part that intrigued me the most was the balloon man. I've seen people make balloon animals and the like on many occasions, but they were nothin' compared to this guy. When we were walking through the restaurant to be seated we saw a Darth Vadar- light saber, helmet and all. Later, the balloon man was making them for a table near us and he cranked out Ariel from the Little Mermaid (tail, hair, fins and clam shells), Cinderella with a dress (glass slippers not included), Tinkerbell, a martian with a laser gun and a helmet that looked like a bubble over his head, and a sumo wrestler! Kendra (Ryan's youngest sister) wanted one as well. She came back to the table with a Cinderella (which her brothers were very interested in how to go about popping) and a Buzz Lightyear for their little nephew. I admit I really wanted to see if he could make Belle, since that's my favorite princess, but I felt a little sheepish and silly so I didn't get one. So, sadly I have no pictures to post :( (not that I know how to post pictures at this point-still working on that).
