Ryan and I had the chance to go to San Diego for the week for spring break. My parents were wonderful and watched Andrew for us while we were gone. We stayed in La Jolla at "The Inn by the Sea" which was about 2 blocks from the beach and right by all the shops and restaurants in La Jolla. It was a great location.
We went to Sea World, out on the ocean whale watching, rode a tandem bike out on Coronado Island, went to the San Diego temple, tried some new foods and restaurants and enjoyed spending time together. We ate at a restaurant right in La Jolla Cove the first night out on the terrace so we could watch the sunset while we ate and it was beautiful. I never thought it would be cold (I was sore the rest of the trip from shivering so hard that night during dinner). I even tried fish and it was surprisingly good.
We had a great time at Sea World seeing the shows and riding a few rides.
These two are out walking around La Jolla cove. There is a cave behind me though it's a little hard to see.
Out on the ocean whale watching. We saw seals and dolphins, grey whales, and lots of birds. We saw submarine coming back in from duty which was pretty cool. The whole crew was standing on top the sub in full dress uniform.
Here is one of the whales we saw. We rode out in the sea air on the way out to the ocean and while looking for the whales. On the way back to port, we went downstairs out of the wind. The wind out on the ocean has a cold bite to it. I also neglected to wear sunscreen out on the boat. It was a cloudy day, no chance of getting burned right?
Here we are out on Coronado Island. The sun even came out for a little while for us. We really enjoyed biking around the island. We would do it again, though we would rent the bike for a longer period of time. We went and walked along the beaches there for a while after biking. What a beautiful place.
So long San Diego.
