Marissa came over to our house one night while they were here and brought Ammon, her eldest son. Ryan took him on a tour of our house and at the end when they arrived back in the front room we had a conversation that went something like this:
Ammon said, "That's cool. So, where's the rest of it? Isn't there a downstairs?"
When we told him that was it, he asked us, "Don't you guys have a TV?"
No.
"Well, do you have any toys?"
No.
"Don't you get bored?" Well, we work a lot so we're not home all day long.
"Oh. Well, why didn't you buy a house with a backyard?"
We had to smile. I don't think we are poorly equipped to entertain a 6 year old boy. We'll have to work on that.
We were able to go to Hogle Zoo and spend some time there with Ryan's family for part of day. The baby elephant was super cute, she was still tripping over her trunk when she was running around.
We went and saw the giraffes and while there tried valiantly to get a picture of the giraffe's tongue. We went to the zoo once while we were dating and the giraffe was licking the enclosure door. Who knew that they have super long purple tongues? We attempted to get pictures of it this time around. We ended up with a lot of really close up mug shots of the giraffe, but no tongue in the pictures. Here's Ryan by the giraffe.
I think it was a month or so ago, not sure exactly when, we went to Mueller Park in Bountiful and had a cookout with Rachelle and Eric and Lily. It was outdoors with great food and good company. We'll have to do it again sometime.
We even got to make s'mores, a summer must-do. I'm glad we got the chance at least once this year to enjoy the tradition.
